Four Baby Bath Tips For New Parents

Four Baby Bath Tips For New Parents

Giving your newborn a bath for the first time is the mist of stressful and pleasant experiences.

In the beginning, it can seem tricky. But don’t worry, you will be a pro soon.

To make this moment closer, we are happy to share four tips that will make the first baby bath as enjoyable as it can be.

1. Don’t overdo

The thing you should know is that a newborn doesn’t need a daily bath.

Two or three times a week are enough until they start getting down to the ground and dirty.

Even more, in the first two weeks, babies are shouldn’t be bathed at all.

They have a special waxy coating that helps moisturize skin and regulate temperature.

Everything that you can do is use warm water and a sponge cloth to gently clean between folds of skin, under the neck, and behind the ears.

2. Keep warm

It’s a well-known fact that newborns chill easily.

That’s why it’s vital to keep warm the bathroom and water and avoid drafts.

During the winter months, consider using a space heater at a safe distance.

3. Get a baby bathtub

Of course, you can use your bath to wash your little one.

However, we highly recommend using a unique baby bathtub.

It is much safer and more convenient both for you and your child.

When your child starts rolling and crawling (around six months), your regular bathtub should be fine to use – but with a shallow water level.

4. Ease your child

While some babies adore bathtime, others can’t stand it.

We are all different. Plus, bathing for the first time is a shock for the young organism.

To make this experience more enjoyable for your child, try to use these tips:

  • Choose a time when your baby is in a good mood.
  • Use a shower cap to avoid getting water or soap into the eyes.
  • Speak quiet and calm.

Bathtime is one of the most beneficial ways to strengthen the bond between a parent and a child. Plus, skin-to-skin contact is crucial for your baby’s sensory development.
